Description / Abstract

A publication based on study of community-based agroforestry outcomes in upland communities in rural Haiti where rainfed agriculture is practiced. We must take note that there has been some success despite water resoruce limitations. Tree species that were more likely to tolerate drought were prioritized. At the same time, water basins were constructed to help with water resource management for health.

Interestingly however, being closer to a body of water also meant that community members might be engaged in other livelihood activities that might deter them from taking up practices such as agroforestry.
