Development in canal lining technology in China

Canal seepage control is important not only to reduce the canal seepage loss rate, but also to prevent erosion, deposition and collapse of canals and control the surrounding groundwater level, which is taken seriously by the governments. This study reviews the history of canal seepage control in China, introduces the canal lining technologies, concludes the canal lining construction problems and points out the further study fields of seepage control in canals. With the enhancement of environmental protection consciousness, seepage control engineering is confronted with new opportunities and challenges, especially the ecological canals, of which the relative technologies need to be deeply studied.
